50mm Experience

Groupama Stadium, Lyon, France, 1 February – 3 May 2026

Between February and May 2026, I ran a photographic experiment at the Groupama Stadium. Over several Olympique Lyonnais matches, I chose to work from the stands with a single constraint: using only a 50mm lens.

Without accreditation to reach the pitch side, I looked for another way to tell the story of football. Match after match, from the same seat, I explored different light, different moods and new details. My attention went as much to the game as to everything around it: reactions, gestures, waiting, supporters and the moments that usually go unnoticed.

This series reflects on the limits imposed on a photographer and how they can become a field for experimentation. It asks whether a personal view is possible on a widely photographed event, telling the match from the spectator’s seat rather than from the accredited photographer’s position.
